Since 2008, we've been training some of the region's top hockey players as they prepare for their upcoming seasons.

There have been dozens of professional, NCAA/CIS (both male and female), and OHL level players through our doors, not to mention hundreds of Junior and minor hockey players who have all taken on the challenge of a serious, properly structured strength and conditioning program.

The hallmarks of our program have been and continue to be:

  1. A holistic, comprehensive training program that includes off-ice training, on-ice instruction, and lifestyle strategies for optimized performance.
  2. Delivering expert coaching and instruction
  3. Creating a competitive, motivating atmosphere
  4. Providing an individualized experience

Below you'll find everything you need to know about HP2019 below including schedules, ice-times, costs, and the features that make our program so unique.

Why us?

This comprehensive hockey training system brings together Southern Ontario’s premier strength and conditioning coaches with some of the best skill development coaches in the province. NLPT and it’s coaches is led by St. Louis Blues Development Strength Coach Andrew Hopf and is specifically designed to give the HP2019 athletes the best chance of success in the upcoming season, while also being conscious of the long term development needs of the human body.

Program overview and features

The HP2019 Program is available in either a 16, 12, 8 or 4-week blocks and scheduled times feature low athlete to coach ratios. The program (regardless of duration) begins with a thorough assessment protocol that includes state of the art force plate testing, speed testing using laser timing gates and a comprehensive report that highlights the objectives we expect them to obtain over the term of their training.

Other Key Features to the HP2019 Program

Tailored Programming

Decisions on program design will be evidenced based. The testing protocols we employ not only serve as an evaluation and motivational tool but also as an insight into the specific physiological demands each athlete needs.

Weekly Competitions

The reality is every athlete likes to compete. Each week the HP2019 athletes will participate in a program related competition against their peers to see not only how the “stack up” but also to open conversations on how intentional training impacts their performance.

Culture Building Events

Throughout the off season we will be scheduling some events to help build team work and culture amongst our athletes. Whether it is a beach day or a trip to a Jays game, we truly believe that the better the culture is amongst our group, the better the training quality is.

Flexible Scheduling

NLPT offers a variety of scheduling options. Whether the athlete trains at the scheduled High Performance training times or during our NLPT Athlete hours, the #1 key to a successful off season is the ability to put in the work required to improve.

Nutrition and Recovery

All athletes who are part of the HP2019 program will receive the Biosteel High Performance Sport Drink and Advanced Recovery Formula during attended training sessions.

NLPT also offers Registered Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy and Naturopathic Medicine in house (Cambridge Location). Additional costs would apply but are covered through most extended health care plans.

On-Ice Skills Development

The HP2019 Program is thrilled to partner with Holistic Hockey and Hishon Skills Corporation who are offering our ice skills sessions at times that work in conjunction with our S&C programming. These programs are an additional fee and are billed for directly by these organizations.

Both Tyler and Joey are highly recognized by their peers as some of the best development coaches in the province and have the player portfolio to back it up.

We will work collaboratively with these organizations to ensure that the messaging and programming meetings their immediate and long term needs.

Ice schedule

Ice times will be announced soon.
